12 mile brutal trail ride...Speedee rocks!!

Howdy all,

Just wanted to report another successful ride today. This was by far the hardest i have ever ridden!! Went all the way up West mt. rd with a friend of mine and his daughter. They are on honda 250s and 300s...i'm on speedee DB-P12 200cc. We rode for a little over 12 miles through some of the roughest terrain i have ever seen. not to mention the deepest puddles!! I was truly unsure if I (speedee) could do it?...but i'm happy to report this china bike rocks!!...and this china rider is getting a lot better too...lol 8)

I didn't take any video of this ride cause i realy needed both hands this time...lol. I wish i have video to show you the brutal trails...but i did snap a few shots whenever we stopped.

I layed speedee down at one point going up a steep, rocky hill that had a large branch in the way...i didn't want to loose my mirrors...so i tried to mucle the bike around it...well the mud and loose rocks gave way...and down went speedee, and me...ouch...you should see the blistering welt on my right inner thigh from the muffler...wowie zowie!!! But speedee was amazingly absolutely fine...not a scratch...I'm psyched!! The bike kept up with the hondas without any trouble...in fact they stalled a few times on the realy steep hills...i just powered up em leaning forward. It was quite the education in how to ride. saw a ton of other bikers and 4 wheelers...it was a great afternoon...

Here are a few shots of the ride...hope you like...

Looks like an old 250 and a CRF230 to me. Awesome to get a ride in no matter what you're on!
I doubt speedee would of flopped if you had a more aggressive rear tire.

What size is that tire, savage? I've been looking at the Dunlop D606 120/90 for the rear of mine.
Nice pics of the ride, looks like it was a lot of fun. Did your suspension do ok? Not trying to hijack your thread with the tire question!

Boy that bigger tire does look a little more rugged and stable... 8O

How much was it?

My suspension did great..i was sure to keep my weight to the back on the wicked jumps...so as to not completely compress the front end...

What can i say, the bike did great...no problems...and no loose bolts...

Happy Days!!

It's a Kenda Trakmaster II 110/110. They make a 100/110 which I think would be a little thinner. I had to shim out my exhaust with a few washers on the rear muffler mount so it would clear.
Ordered it from www.bikebandit.com

I feel confident laying my bike down just as low as before on pavement so I'm happy with it's road manners too.
We got alot of rain here today so I rode in some property out back and shot some awesome rooster tails of mud and grass! :D I was impressed.

Just and old saying.. Are you going to take those mirrors off or are you gonna let the trees do it for you???

"Just and old saying.. Are you going to take those mirrors off or are you gonna let the trees do it for you???"

Clearly I'm gona let the trees do it...

I was gonna take them off today for the ride but i had to ride a couple miles in traffic before i got to the trails...by the time i got there i didn't feel like removing them...

Besides i can't be bothered...i'll let the trees do it...doh!! :P

Savage, thanks for the link...i want one of those tires... 8O

katoranger 07-30-2007 08:23 AM

Ambassador, thanks for the report on the street manners of that tire. I was alittle concerned about using it on the pavement. It won't be long before I will have one on the back.

You mean me?

It has a nice whine or hum cruising down the pavement like a mud tire. :D

katoranger 07-30-2007 08:29 PM

Sorry, yes I meant Savage.

so how is speedee holding up so far

parallax 10-24-2007 05:38 PM

Thanks for the question AZ...

I've been meaning to post an up to date trail ride report with new video...but have been so busy with work and school and the band...etc...

Anyway, to answer your question...speedee is awesome...i've had no major problems...or for that matter no minor problems. I ride it about 3-4 days per week now that the temp here in western mass is dropping. I don't like riding home from work at midnight when it's 30 degrees...i'm still aclimated to summer weather...lol

She always starts right up...with a little choke...tires are fine...brakes are perfect...etc...

I tighten the chain ever month or so...and change the oil about every 500miles or so...i love it...it's been about the most cost effective purchase i've ever made...and i've gotten some killer ebay deals in the past that would blow you away!!!

Powersportsmax was great to me...and i'm very happy all the way around!!

So in short...and i know i've said it before...speedee rocks!!!
