Honda CRF230L

Well, I may regret it (doubt it! ) but I went ahead and traded
for the 2008 (sold NEW in late 2014!!! ??? :-/ ) Honda CRF230L. 420 miles now on odometer. Speedometer has to be at least 10 MPH off because I was going " 55 " in a 45 MPH zone on the way to work this morning and was just keeping up with traffic. In some areas, that may sond normal. Not here. I swear we have a patroll car sitting every 1/2 mile in every direction you go in in Paris TN. :-/ I have rode this bike 3 times now before buying. And have just a few things to sort out. * Trail Tech digital speedometer / tach will be going on. * Slightly larger and square mirrors. * Another toolbox on the rear like I did with the WILL200, but this time a bit shorter and wider I hope for. * MUCH larger footpegs. Seems to be a common upgrade with these. * Add a few LED light strips for better visability. * Get burial plot and casket paid for before going home, as I ma sure my loving wife is going to kill me for trading a 4th time in the same eyar! :lmao: Nothing else I want to change. Sprockets / gearing seems perfect. Did an INDICATED 70 MPH. I only need to go a true 55. Suspension is near perfect. Just a wee bit stiff, but that can be good when the going gets rough. I LIKE the quiet muffler. Very quiet. |
Andy, this is your fault by the way! :-pppppppppp

Congratulations. I'm sure you will like the CRF250L; it is a very nice motorcycle. :)

You can't pin this one on me, my wife is still mad at me. I don't need your wife mad at me too. LOL |
I got lucky on my CRF, the speedometer is only about 1 mph fast by gps.

I went on a 2 hour ride this afternoon. Well, an hour and half. I ran through a swarm of bees and at least 2 got almost into my helmet and I know for a fact at least 3 more went into my black leather & nylon mesh riding jacket. Amazingly, none of them stung my face as I was trying to frantically remove it, but got 6 large whelps on my back mostly between my shoulder blades from the ones that went into my jacket. Hard to get those thick armored/padded stiff jackets off fast when being stung all over. ( CE insert pads ) Got home and took 6 Benadryl and 4 inbproffin and crashed out on the couch for 4 hours. |
I've always wondered when that day would come for me. I'm glad you're ok.
|
X2; I'm glad you weren't stung worse.

Thanks Weld & Spud.
It is really truly odd. I grew up on a farm. Beef cattle & grain crops. About a 1600 acre farm. I started actually working as a true farm hand at about 10 years old. I would get an occasional wasp sting every now and then, but never in all the years of working on the farm had I ever goten into a true swarm of bees. ALSO, in all those years, had never been bit by a spider. All that time crawling around on the ground under / over broken down tractors & equipment, checking fences, cutting / baling hay, no bees or spiders. I have been spider bit TWICE in the last 6 months, and this is the second time in 2 weeks I have had an encounter with bees!!! >:( The first time was last saturday when I was cleaning out old landscaping at my new to me house. The previous owner had not kept up the landscaping very well. I think I just found out why! :-/ And I just NOW noticed that I had titled my orriginal post as " Honda CRF250L " :ohno: This is a 230, not a 250. |
I'm sorry, I erroneously changed the title of your post. I'm glad you noticed; I corrected my error. ;)

No problem'o Spud ;)
Today I got almost nothing done with the bike. Went to the Honda dealer looking for a tank bag. They had one, it was really small and was $40. I almost got it, but this idea popped into my head. So over to Tractor Supply I went. Had to get a 4# bag of dog food for the Yorkee and low & behold they had exactly what I was thinking of. $9.95 + Tax. :D Now, please understand, I am not saying "this is great!" Just , this is cheap! hahaha! Let me get a few miles on it and I will tell y'all how it is working out. I am betting the zippers fail. the bag does not fight as tight as it should, but all possible slack has been taken up, so it is as tight as I can get it. |
