front sprocket bolts

Another mistake I made upgrading my hawk was I tightened the bolts down too much on the front sprocket. The stock bolts are cheap and soft for this application. (in my opinion (which does not constitute as a viable opinion)) I found replacements at a local Lowes that are almost the same M6-1.00 x 12mm. (1 mm longer) but they look just as soft.

I have looked and searched for a proper torque spec on these and have not found it (other than a Youtube vid where the guy says, "yup, dat's good N tight")

also has anyone sourced a better grade bolt? Seems like that front sprocket needs something better to rely on. Allen head instead of 10mm hex? (and of course Loctite.)

I never tighten mine down very tight but I use orange locktite. It really just holds that lock plate on.
As an interesting observation, on the 520 chain sprockets, if I buy one that's less than 11t, it comes with a snap ring instead of a lock plate so the chain doesn't ride on the bolt heads. No bolts at all.

I run grade 10.9 metric flanged hex bolts with a lock washer 15mm long threads, and I also put just a dab of 243 loctite on them. Grade A2 or A4 stainless bolts would also work, but can be a bit pricey. As far as torque goes, 12-15lb-ft
