Never heard of it, but it's about time somebody built one. The fenders and frame are a total win, but the tank shape needs work. A Sporty tank would be perfect.

There was an ad on UsedVictoria today for 200cc bobbers.
Could not check out the site due the filters my work has on my internet.

Those look like Kikker bobbers: http://www.kikker5150.com/hardknock.html (scroll down the page to find the 200).

That's a lot of cash for a 200. I wonder if they have TC approval yet; if so, that might explain the cost. They've been available in the US for some time.

Reveeen 01-29-2011 01:09 AM

Certainly a "no mercy" situation on the price!

In the depths of winter here, 2006-2008 Sportsters are selling for that, and will continue to be worth exactly (if not more) what you paid for it, year in, year out. I looked at a Triumph speed triple here last week for $3000 (asking). There is a local guy trying to unload a Ducati monster (salvage title) for $4000 (asking).

01-29-2011 10:59 AM

I say get a two piece tank like for the real choppers, get rid of all the blinquers and put on some straight handle bars and I think it be a beautifull bike to cruise around :D

Barnone 01-29-2011 12:56 PM

I agree with the straight handlebars but would keep the tank and replace the mirrors with bar end ones.
And the Secondary Air Injection would have to go.
Flat black would be my choice.
The motor is really 230cc or so. Honda clone?

JTCAndrew 01-29-2011 02:51 PM

Prior to my XF200 - was my 1982 Honda CM200 Twinstar

I Sold this after building it, Becuase I wanted the XF200. I paid $150.00 FOR THIS BIKE. It was a basket case, but had a really sweet low miles engine. Basically rebuilt every nut and bolt on it. Chopped her down 2.5" Redid everything. Total investment was $700 and I sold her for $1700.
If you want to see just how modified this bike is Google picstures of a Honda Twinstar - Hated to do it, but fell in love with the XF200.

Have a Peek and Enjoy!

That bike looks and sounds amazing! That's the first interesting Twinstar I've ever seen! 8)

How did you get it to sound like a V-Twin with a cam? :?:

JTCAndrew 01-30-2011 01:06 PM

My Honda Twinstar

Wasn'thard to get the sound. I cut the Muflers off - LOL Added 8" to each side to extend the pipes back. (Not shownin video) Wrapped the Pipesin Header Tape. I was going to add some baffles - but sold her as is. I did love the way she sounded also. I am going to get a FMF or Pro Circuit Can for my XF200 Very soon. Can't wait to see what that does. 8O

looks sweet barnone! Keep us posted on your likes and dislikes!

Weldangrind 02-17-2011 12:22 AM

That's an even nicer machine in your photos. Here's hoping that rigid frame doesn't cause you to urinate blood.

I'm looking forward to further reports on your new bike. :D

Barnone 02-19-2011 03:07 PM

So far so good but she needs another tooth on the front sprocket. Why do they gear all these bikes so low? I've added the tooth on all my bikes to get some use out of first gear and reduce the revs at cruise.
Fun to ride and getting a lot of positive comments on the bobber.

Weldangrind 02-21-2011 04:33 PM

Maybe they're geared below because of the dirt bike heritage. That said, we almost always drop a tooth or two in the front to bring it down to 12 for dirt only.

Looking forward to more pics. :D

JTCAndrew 02-21-2011 04:50 PM

Bobber Pics

Yes More Pictures - we all like pictures, and of course your comments on this new bike. I have the cycleworld edition that they reviewed the Heist. Definately caught my attention, but not this year, maybe NEXT year. And of course theres The Kikker 5150 - which I almost bought instead of the Qlink - I belive the Kikker comes in like 3 or 4 boxes. Alot more assembly on those I think. I Didn't like the side shifter on those though. You probably have no issue with touching on your new bobber do ya? Whats the seat height like 24- 26inches? LOL Sweet looking bike - Keep the pics coming!

Andrew :D

Barnone 02-21-2011 10:33 PM

I pulled the cover off the front sprocket and it has a 13 tooth and does not look like there is room for a 14 so I might have to get a smaller rear sprocket to change the gearing.

Almost up to 100 miles on her after my 60 mile ride out to the ranch and back. Break in sticker on the motor says to keep her under 50 KMPH for 300KMs so not much more to go.

Put a magnetic drain plug in her yesterday.

The owner's manual says to run 40PSI from and rear. Seems like a lot to me.

First rigid rear for me and I am surprised how well it handles on the street.

JTCAndrew 02-22-2011 08:12 AM

Sprocket for your Bobber

I'll have to go back and look at pics, but would there be room if you left the cover off? I know it probably, wouldn't look as pretty and takes some saftey factors away, but a common look on Bobbers anyway - Especially Some Nortons, and Triumps.....Going to look at some pic's. Just tell me if i'm crazy, but just throwing it out there.

Barnone 02-22-2011 09:16 AM

Andrew,
I'll take another look later today but am going for a ride with my scooter/bike group now.
I don't mind leaving the cover off but there is a wire there that appears to be a problem with a larger front sprocket.

I have the Cycle World mag with the article about the Heist. It's very similar to my bobber but a little more dressed up for an extra $1000. Same engine as mine and it appears to have a smaller rear sprocket.

Barnone 02-26-2011 07:13 PM

Tried some drag bars today and they seemed nice.

JTCAndrew 02-26-2011 08:01 PM

new bARS

Thats exactly the way i had my bobber setup - drag bars - I even put them on my honda rebel. Gives a whole new look don't they? I like'm! 8)

Weldangrind 02-26-2011 08:31 PM

Need more pics Barnone. Can we get a side view? From what I see, they look great. 8)

Barnone 02-26-2011 09:47 PM

DF came almost empty of oil and the owner's manual said to drain and fill with10w40 motorcycle oil so that is what I did at uncrating. I also installed a magnetic drain plug (MDP) at that time.
http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=mag...+ructus&_rdc=1
Today I passed 180 miles on the bike and a sticker on the engine said to change the oil and clean the strainer (300KMs) so I just did the task a few minutes ago.
http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x...h/IMG_0643.jpg
I found what I usually find on the MDP at first oil change. It's real fine metal particles. Happens on almost all my vehicles.

Whether it is worth fooling with is debatable but for $15 or so ....
Usually the amount is much less at time goes on.

Not a very photo but the best I have at this time. That's my wife in the background painting our cottage on Sanibel Island. I rode out to give her advice. lol She is the painter, I am the carpenter and plumber.

Weldangrind 02-27-2011 02:25 AM

That's a nice machine. Those drag bars are an excellent choice.

What is the vent hose dumping into? It looks like an airbox, but you have an open element air cleaner.

Barnone 02-27-2011 02:08 PM

It's a fake oil tank.

A few photos of my ride out to the ranch.

Thanks for the links. I was hoping that there was more to it than just a negative connotation. It seems to identify a particular design style, much in the way we'd reference a Shaker house.

Barnone 02-27-2011 06:34 PM

Being called a Florida Cracker is not a negative to a Florida native like my wife or long time Florida resident like me.
That house at our ranch was built in the 1930 and was originally 14 by 20 feet. A indoor kitchen and bathroom was added in the late 1950's. It got into very bad shape until I completely rebuilt it and about doubled the size in the late 1990's.

Aboshi 02-27-2011 11:35 PM

I was thinking of buying a few of these for all of my brothers and myself from scooterdepot. Did you're bike come with a actual title to register or just a MSO? I ask because I'm in NY and it is nearly impossible to register an off road vehicle with a MSO here without jumping through hoops for months, and even then it gets denied. I know all the sites say this bike is street legal but that doesn't mean a thing without a title in NY or a way to get one easily.

Barnone 02-28-2011 09:59 AM

It is suppose to come with a MSO just like any other vehicle. The MSO needs to say that the vehicle meets EPA and DOT requirements for on road use in the USA. Never heard of a new vehicle coming with a title, usually the dealer handles the paper work (for a fee) to get a title/tag for you so you never see the MSO or MCO or COO.

My three other crate vehicles came with a filled out MSO that I took to my county tag office along with a bill of sale and got a tag and title(in the mail) after paying sales tax and other fees.

That said, I am still waiting for my filled MSO and bill of sale from the place where I bought my bobber. Luckily I used Paypal and have a dispute opened with the vendor throught them and Paypal is withholding my payment to them. If I don't get the paper work soon so I can register the bobber then I going to cancel the payment and tell the vendor to come get their bike.

I had the same problem when I bought my Qlink XF200 and used Paypal to get the dealer to respond.

EDIT:
Scooterdepo has a very bad reputation according to some on this site. Turns out that the vendor I bought from is scooterdepo under an alias website. It appears that they have multiple alias web sites.
