I have heard there is a little redneck in everyone and I just happen to have a bit more than most. Don’t laugh! This is a temp fix until I either find some hose or plastic to support this or go to a pod filter and make my own intake hose like others have done. There is another piece of strap on the bottom and it has much better airflow now.

This is the high quality air box and filter system in these little quads…….. I don’t have a lot of confidence in the ½ inch thick dry foams ability to protect the engine plus the metal screen appears to be on the wrong side of the foam. I didn’t measure but I wonder if a pod would fit in here?

I did install the Tach/Hour Meter and am OK with the placement. I didn’t have much choice for a location if I wanted to see it while riding. Tire got plugged and new zip ties installed to keep all the wires secured. I will be pulling in the blue one tonight for the same treatment (sans the tire plug).

if i didn't have visions of the rx4 in my future, i think i would go for this in red as is shown for $3649 (new!).............niceeeeee! (regular style atv and lowest cost). my cousin has a old 300 polaris and it has all the power i would want and this unit has 4x4 capability !

Good price on that quad for sure. I have seen those bed top quad haulers on the road and they seem like a nice set up.

Ok, just found that hauler and thought of your trip. I'm sure the cost is prohibitive as usual but just an idea. Could be made of plywood etc... etc...

Good fix on the air hose. Probably wasnt inhibiting air flow but i would think a radiator hose could do the job and would be smooth inside and out . May not catch so much filth on the outside of the hose and most importantly, cheap!

That looks like a good deal redneck fix!
Like BB said, run some radiator hose....and then run it inside the air box and put one of these (or something similar) on the end.....or straight off the carb. As you know, we do dust here far more than water. This type of double oil-able foam filter is the ticket for our hot dusty summers.

That’s the pod I am looking to get. I will run it into the airbox with radiator hose like BlackBike suggested because I like the clean look and I tend to “find” water whenever I get the quads out. That accordion air hose currently on them is paper thin and has to go.

Amazon clickity click click……

As we all know , watch out for the shipping ripoff. You see this less and less now . The clicking public has gotten wise .

Those stock air filters are awful. The screen is on the correct side, as it's meant to prevent damage to the filter in the event of flashback. If you wanted to keep the factory box, a good alternative is bulk Uni foam that is greased around the perimeter to help it seal. My choice is a pod.
