Hola, I tried to ride my bike early this morning after the top end rebuild but had a problem. I turned on the bike but after 1 or 2 minutes there was thin white smoke possibly coming from the cylinder. I mean "possibly" because it was breezy and is difficult to spot the problem. Before watching the smoke, I smelled something burning and thought was a plastic but did not find any burned plastic. I am afraid is the piston or something inside the engine. I know the oil pump is working since there was some drops of oil coming from the cam sprocket cover (did not thigh enough the bolts). I am confuse since I followed the TW 200´s service manual recommendations and don´t know what to do. Could be the O-ring installed in the cyclinder? it´s not the original (yama) and probably burned out.

If you spilled some oil on the engine during the rebuild, it will burn off the first few times you run the motorcycle. Unless you notice an oil leak, this is probably the source of the smoke, and it will soon disappear. ;)

I suggest you stay close to home for the first ten miles or so. ;) After that, you can ride the bike normally. :) |
Congratulations on a successful rebuild! :D

Hey Hect any news on the TK jets? I have a Teikei MV30 which nearly identical to the MV28 that Spud and many others have put together ton of resources for.
After doing some mods that created a lean condition, I had my TK main"128" jet drilled out an estimated "couple sizes" by a local shop this week which helped a bit, but I will be ordering a variety of those Mikuni jets so I have numbers to work with. Also, I saw that Sigma 6 jets makes jet performance kits for a variety Zongs and my SSR with TK, I have not asked them if they sell individual TK jets however. |
Teikei jets are very hard, if not impossible to find. If you do find them, they will be expensive. :ohno: That's why the Yamaha TW200 owners and I have switched to the Mikuni jets. ;)

I have ordered all N102/221 sizes from 130 up to 137.5 from Rocky Mountain. I am hopeful the TK MV30 will like them.
