From looking at your pictures it looks like you could use a straight feeler gauge on the exhaust. Doesn't look like you have much room on the intake side. You may have to use an angled feeler gauge on the intake.

Me too! I won't know for several weeks since I am in the break in period.

What speed are you getting in the break in period and does it struggle to get there? Also are you loctiting everything?

Owned 50 or more bikes ( British bikes, Japanese bike, Chinese bikes, Russian bikes) over the last 60+ years and never loctited any of them and never had a problem with parts falling off. Seems to have good power but I am not pushing her yet. Also need to check the speedometer accuracy.

Just got the Certificate of Origin and the sales receipt from the seller so will register her next week. Then I can put some kilometers on her.

Yep, tight in that area. Looks like I need a 24mm wrench to take that cap off?

JerryHawk250 11-16-2018 09:02 PM

Might be easier to get to if you remove the tank.

We shall see when I need to do the first valve check/adjustment. Be a while.

jeffery,
Thanks but I measured the nut at 24mm and a 24mm socket fits in it just fine. Headed to Harbor Freight with a 20% off coupon to buy something else so will buy a 24mm wrench too.
What value did you use to set the valve clearances?

Barnone 11-17-2018 04:28 PM

Sold the CT70 clone but might buy another one as it was a good ride and was easy to haul .

Got her all registered and tagged today. Waiting on insurance to be completely legal to ride.

First legai ride late today. She moves right along. Doing the slow break-in but did run her up to 50 MPH and the speedometer was only optimistic by 2 MPH so that is good.
50 MPH 4700 RPM on the mini tack in 5th gear.
She seems to handle very well.
Will ride her out to the beach tomorrow looking for a bikini to take some photos like this one from my long gone DF250RTB.

Off topic but just changed the rear tire on my Suzuki TU250X. Old tire was worn out in just over 5k miles riding in the mountains. Not complaining as the curves and elevation changes are much more fun than here in flat Florida.

I would be worried about you riding around in a bikini like that ,but it sounds like you have done it before and survived .
