Today was my wife's birthday. So a few of us loaded up some toys
And headed to the gravel pit My mom took Hailey (daughter) for the night so we were able to go for some pretty long rides. We brought the quad (gio monster) The TTR and the xr80 My brother came out and hauled one of my bikes on his trailer and I had quad and a bike on mine. We ripped around a bit. Then my brother and the rest of the gang needed to take off. So he loaded his 3 wheeler and the xr and was on his way Me and jess rode around a bit then she decided to park the quad and hop on with me. She LOVES being passenger. Only scared her a couple times. Think the bike is faster then she was expecting. Pegs work great btw weldangrind Here's us before our ride http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...7672E0074F.jpg The bike eager to go http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...0E05075F6C.jpg And us at one of our stops. (Ladysmith fish hatchery) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...BF3ADE715F.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...FBEC6D93A7.jpg Unfortunately this is all the pics I got from today. Trails are a bit trickier with a passenger but manageable. I'm sure I'll get better and better. I'm not afraid to admit I got jess to hop off a couple times to maneuver tight trails around gates Next time I will try to get more We might be going for another ride in the morning before we go to pick hailey up. Probably only bring the 2 bikes this time. But I'm sure jess will want to enjoy the scenery as passenger again lol Thanks for reading Dave |
I'm glad you guys got to go riding. :)
The foot pegs look great. You also got two nice tires with that bike. :) |
Happy birthday Jess!
I'm glad to hear you guys got a chance to ride today. The weather was awesome. |
Did you manage to get that one stubborn peg to move?

Thanks Dave |
I originally thought this bike might feel gutless with a passenger. But it still pulls rather well through all the gears. The tranny feels extremely low geared as I can almost come to a complete stop in 3rd and just roll onto it and get going no problem.
Mind you the stock gearing is rather low. I do plan to leave it as is though. Dave |
It sounds like the perfect trail bike for your needs.

You can also use use Zongshen 200GY-2 parts from Taobao.com to replace your Yamaha parts. Valves Valve Rockers Camshaft Camshaft Timing Chain Pickup Coil If you switch to the Zongshen CDI unit, you can also use the Zongshen stator. ;) I saved my friend Andy over $500 when we converted the damaged electrical system of his Yamaha TT-R225 to Chinese parts. :) http://www.chinariders.net/showthread.php?t=13934 |
I bought a bunch of engine parts for my TW (which I haven't installed yet) from Taobao, and the quality is impressive. Can't tell it from Yamaha stuff.
|
That's why my Zongshen 200GY-2 is still running strong after 65,000 miles. ;) Zongshen manufactures parts with Japanese quality.

Good to know :)
Thanks for all the tips Dave |
I ordered the phone mount I posted about earlier. Been pondering it ever since. Figured it was worth a shot.
Now a more technical question. Next oil change I want to change the oil filter aswell. Cause honestly who knows when the last time this filter was changed. I'm always looking to save a buck lol So was wondering if anyone has experience with this oil filter Or can recommend one for me http://www.ebay.com/itm/131074527625 Thanks Dave |
Your TT-R225 employs the same oil filter as my Zong, and the Yamaha TW200. ;) My Zong's oil filter is virtually identical to the oil filter in you eBay auction. That's an excellent oil filter, and it is designed to be cleaned, and re-used. You can also purchase those oil filters from Taobao. ;)
http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=...36&ns=1#detail Check to see if you current oil filter is also constructed of steel mesh. If so, it is designed to be cleaned, and re-used. :) You can also purchase single-use, paper oil filters for your TT-R225, but I highly recommend the steel mesh, re-usable oil filters. Your TT-R225 use the same oil filter as the following motorcycles. Yamaha XT200 Yamaha TW200 Yamaha XT225 Yamaha TT-R230 Zongshen 200GY-2 Zongshen ZS250GS |
Thanks for the quick reply spud.
I'll check the one in the bike before ordering anything Dave |
It is nice to have two, in case one tears. I keep one clean and ready.
