Scored a Flywing, where to buy parts?

Yep, I'm kinda like a man that just can't quit finding junk to repair. Since the Baja & the Kazuma are both finished, I wanted to sit back & enjoy them, but an ad on Craigslist told me otherwise. Guy had a 100cc pitbike listed for $75. I offered $60 & took it home. All it needs are a chain, stator, stator cover, & air up the tires. After comparing it to my other small Chinese stuff I realized NOTHING is similar. This one runs a 16/14 wheel combo, sits lower, has a real Walbro carburetor, & the engine is 98cc & looks nothing like anything Chinese that I've seen. My spare 110 motor parts won't swap over & since it has no provisions for a battery I can't just swap engines since I have no kick start motors left. It is a horizontal motor though & appears to have the same bolt pattern.

I looked around & found out that Flywing & Jianshe are the same thing. Also noticed that Jianshe & Yamaha have some kind of partnership. Am I looking at a Yamaha engine? Would really like to get the ball rolling on this project soon. Anyone run across these or know about them? It's a 2004 model so not like I'm looking at a classic.

We need pics! I doubt that the engine is based on a Yamaha; every China pit bike I've seen is based on the horizontal Honda.

You can mix and match a ton of parts, but the main difference is the electric vs. kick. I have a 110 motor with both, but they're a little more rare. The electric start version has a fatter stator cover, and the starter can be either above or below the cylinder.

I tore the bike apart last night & started looking it over closely. This is the first non electric start horizontal motor that I've ran across. I have a kick/electric on the Kazuma, didn't know they were rare. Also have a couple of fully auto electrics & some semi auto electrics. Never seen one without until now.

For some reason the exhaust has an expansion chamber before the muffler. Odd.... Also cool to find a Walbro carburetor on one of these. Anyone have a diagram of parts that goes under the stator cover? Want to make sure I don't miss anything putting it back together. Right now it has a 5 wire stator bolted to the block & everything else is missing. Just need the rotor & cover or is there something else? I don't have a way of taking pics, but found a couple of good ones on the net for example.

I recommend that you get to a thrift shop and buy a cheap digi camera. It will be a huge help when working on bikes. We'll be able to see exactly what you see.

That bike is a sort of hybrid species. The body is a copy of a Yamaha PW80, and the motor is a Honda clone horizontal 50. The Yamaha was a two-stroke, which is where the expansion chamber comes from. Once you free up the exhaust, the bike will start, idle and run much better. You might need to install a larger slow jet and main jet, but not necessarily.

As long as the stator and pickup are in place, you'll likely just need the rotor and cover. The stator is probably just a two-coil design, since it doesn't power lights or accessories, and it doesn't use a battery.

Definitely want to do something to one of the pit bikes. I'm hoping to get this one running in the next few weeks & let my boy pick which one he wants. 98cc with big wheels or 110cc with small wheels... hard choice. After he picks his out, I'm taking the other one & modding it. Thought about just tossing this motor & going 125, but I'm more into saving what others think is junk. Stator is just a two coil. Just looks odd to me I guess since the electric start motors have the stator bolted to the cover & this one is on the motor.

OK. Just got a flywheel in the mail yesterday. Still need to get a new stator. Possibly just the trigger since there is a stator already on there. Just the wires to the trigger have been cut & it's missing. Should be easy enough to find on ebay. After that, a new nut, & a new cover, it should be running. Anyone have experience with those clear plastic stator covers? Sounds kind of questionable seeing how hot the engine can get, but it does look cool & is dirt cheap.

Anyone know what size the flywheel nut is? Human Being has been spot on so far. I don't have one for this bike & don't plan on spending $20 for a removal tool just to take one from my spare motor.
