In other news, both our kids are starting new jobs.

My oldest, who has an MSA, has worked for the State of Maine since she graduated from college. For the past several years she has been working with people that had recently lost their sight. Her job was to help these folks become as independent as possible. As a squirt, she used to hang with Mrs. C's aunt who lost her sight at an early age. The aunt really didn't care much for kids but for some reason she adored Shannon. The new gig is what she considers her dream job as a Music Therapist. Not sure how all this works, but the pay is over $50 an hour and she will have her own space. She always has said she'd put us in a decent home.

Our youngest, who has an MBA, is a CPA, and has an alphabet soup of letters following her name. She has worked for JP Morgan Chase for over a decade. She's a Systems Analyst/Fraud Investigator with the title of VP. She says a bank VP is a middle manager, nothing more. She was recruited away by another financial firm. Her pay at Chase was in the neighborhood of $150K. The new place is giving her a 60% increase over that PLUS an annual bonus that runs five figures. She'll be able to work from home with a trip to HQ two or three times a year. She said she'd put us in a nice home.

Ho Lee Chit. What a horrible flying day yesterday. Flying through Dallas to Charleston because I’d rather walk there than ever connect through Charlotte again. So, flight to Dallas was delayed an hour which meant my connection would be dicey but doable. Just doing carry-on this trip. Get to Dallas and my connection is delayed a half hour. Phew. Then an hour. Then two. Three hours. Cancelled. Get booked on a later flight that’s already delayed two hours. Then three. Then four hours. Then, you guessed it. Cancelled. I get rebooked on a flight for mid afternoon today. It’s already 9pm. I’ve been in this freaking airport since 2:30pm.
Told Harold I’m getting a hotel room because I ain’t sleeping in an airport ever again and I don’t want to hear about the cost. Hotels are gouging because of all the cancelled flights in Dallas. He agrees. Lyft ride from the airport is $45. They’re gouging, too.
Because I am now getting to Beaufort this evening, maybe, I need to reschedule my return flights. I dicked around with American until 2 this morning to get that done. Actually, getting it done took less than 5 minutes, getting to a breathing human took five hours.

I really don’t miss flying.

first of all, if you had booked through Charlotte I could have at least picked you up for a ride to the hotel. no $45 charge.

second, as I'm sitting at my desk at work and dreaming about wanting to escape this rat-race and go ride the motorcycle, I'm wondering WHY IN THE WORLD you would want to get back into this mess after having a sniff of freedom!

I was thinking the same thing. I can't wait for my chance to escape.

#1, Not my money.

#2, There are a couple people in my old group I like and want to visit with.

#3, Other than the flight cluster yesterday, I’m actually being given plenty of cash to do next to nothing.

#4, After the demo of the machine in Seattle next month, that’s it for the travel. What little I will be doing will be from the recliner in my living room for maybe six hours a week. Usually it’s just for an hour on my schedule.

I’ve gotten calls while riding the Ural. One customer bitched about me riding when he called. Told him I was retired and if he could wait an hour until I got home, I’d get him his answer. He threatened to call corporate and bitch to them. Told him to go ahead but if he called corporate, he could forget about any answer, right or wrong. He waited.

Lol. He was mad at you for riding your motorcycle, even though you're not working. He threatened to call corporate, even though you already told him you're retired. This guy would have never gotten answered again, and would have to third party his questions to me for the remainder of time. lol.

with my Sena headset people don't generally even know I'm on the bike. it apparently filters background noise very well.

I probably would have given him the corporate number to call.

I have a Freedcon T-com with FM. If I’m wearing my modular helmet, no one knows. Wearing my 3/4, I have to put my hand over the mic.

And I did give him the number.

Other than the fiasco on Monday, it wasn't a bad trip. The machine looked good and operated well and did not leak. For once.

I'm kind of liking this 'Advisor' thing. Not even a full five days work over two weeks and a bundle of moola was deposited in my bank account.

So far this week, I can account for 45 minutes. That was fifteen minutes of explaining, via texting, to a doofus on how to do something he'd already been trained to do and a half hour of chasing down a part number that was in our old MAI inventory system but was never transferred to the new, even more useless, M3 system. Really didn't matter, didn't have any in stock, anyway.

Now, CS is even more confused and we have another pissed off customer.

So the plan is proceeding nicely. Someone in there is obviously a mole who actually works for a competitor.
